Craniosacral Therapy

What is Craniosacral Therapy?
(Also known as Cranial Osteopathy)

This is a gentle, non-invasive, effective treatment for numerous conditions. Just as the body has a cardiac rhythm and respiratory rhythm it also has a craniosacral rhythm, which can be felt throughout the body. It is by using this rhythm that a trained therapist can locate restrictions in the body.

The name craniosacral, refers to the head and sacral bone. They move together in such a way that the cerebrospinal fluid pumps throughout the spine and brain, feeding the brain and nerves. Restrictions in these areas can affect any area of the body.

Treatment
This is a very gentle manual approach that works with the body’s natural rhythm and is therefore safe and effective. There is no ‘forcing’ of the tissue but rather a specific ‘hold’ that facilitates the release of the restriction.

This treatment works with all tissues of the body and all systems. It affects fascia, muscle, blood flow, CSF flow, and has positive affects on the organs of the body.

Using the craniosacral rhythm while using other manual therapies, such as massage, enhances the effectiveness of the treatment.
